National Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff Event

Month-long activities will take place every weekend through October 13
Celebrate with us! Throughout the month, there’ll be hands-on art activities, performances, and themed workshops and programs to honor the contributions of local Latinos. Check this out for more details.
Lowrider takeover kicks off the month on September 14
- Boulevard Bombs will showcase some of their most beautiful cars inside and outside of the museum
- Phillip Retamoza, known locally as the Purple Car Singer, will perform throughout the day from his custom-designed purple 1952 Mercury Lowrider bomb (Mercster)
- Author and digital artist Ricardo Cortez will present his popular book, ABCs of Lowriding, and facilitate a hands-on art activity at 11:00 a.m.
Stay tuned for many more fun events throughout the month like:
- Ballroom dancing exhibitions and lessons
- Mariachi and Folklorico dancers
- Latin Inspired art activities
- Many Latin Inspired games
- And even, Lucha Libre inside the museum!
