The work featured in Bird’s Eye was created by Keys School’s elementary school artists and inspired by landscape paintings of iconic artists such as Louisa Matthíasdóttir and Claude Monet, who used color and abstracted nature in their paintings. The artists in Bird’s Eye responded to these works by first simplifying their chosen landscape scenes into shapes, working the detail back into their paintings, and then creating additional layers with tempera paint and both chalk and oil pastel.
Keys School challenges students to develop a keen intellect and a generous spirit, to advocate for themselves and others, and to honor curiosity and reflection in an increasingly hurried world. Keys School approaches art as a discovery process involving observation, imagination, experimentation, and problem solving. For more information about Keys School, please visit keysschool.org.
