Supervisor: Facility Operation and Maintenance Manager
Summary:
Under the general direction of the Facility Operation and Maintenance Manager, the Facility Operation and Maintenance Technician ensures that the CDM facilities are safe, clean, well-operating and maintained. This position directly accomplishes our core purpose of creating great and unique spaces in which to work, play, and learn.
Responsibilities:
Works within strategic framework and established goals and objectives with varied autonomy depending on level. Focus is on project/program delivery and execution. Applies technical knowledge to achieve results. Problem analysis and creative solutions impact museum resources. Expectations and experience required described below.
• Perform facility operation, preventive maintenance and repairs;
• Complete facility Work Orders;
• Assist in the development of facility operation and maintenance schedule and budget;
• Maintain exhibit and facility work spaces, tools, and equipment;
• Maintain stock of facility parts, and supplies;
• Perform minor electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs;
• Understand and operate the HVAC building management software
• Manage and direct janitorial contractors
• Cultivate relationships with key vendors, contractors and city contacts
• Assist with the install and de-install of traveling exhibits;
• Provide on-site traveling exhibit support including painting, lighting, flooring, etc;
• Perform other duties as requested.
• Perform Exhibit King responsibilities as per required by schedule;
• Support facility event rentals;
• Manage 3-4 part-time staff members to operate and maintain the Discovery Express train.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of facility operation and maintenance practice;
• Knowledge of basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems and operations;
• Skilled in basic repair practices for plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, and carpentry;
• Skilled in computer based work management system;
• Ability to plan and integrate multiple work tasks;
• Ability to diagnose and problem solve basic building systems and functions;
• Strong ability to work in a team; and
• Ability to work independently.
Education/Experience
Any combination of education and experience providing the required knowledge and skills are qualifying. Minimum employment standards are:
• High School diploma; and
• Three years of comparable experience in facility maintenance and operations.
