A love of dance creates a powerful connection between two very different worlds in this original performance created by choreographer and dance artist Isabella “Jay” Torres, and performed by young dancers who are differently abled. It tells the story of her journey from a small town through trials and challenges until she meets and teaches her beloved students with Autism and Down Syndrome.

Youth Artists Explore Language & Cultural Identity

International Mother Language Day is a world-wide annual observance celebrated on February 21 to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity. The Alborz Farsi School, in its second annual juried exhibit, has invited young artists to explore what language means to them in the exhibit Mother Tongue. The exhibit features the original entries of the top 33 finalists.

Papermaking: Create a Butterfly!
With Artist Julia Goodman

Julia Goodman will teach you a creative way to make paper butterflies with minimal equipment and maximum fun. Take home your very own handmade paper butterfly!
Julia Goodman is an artist and educator who works with humble and visceral materials to consider personal, political and ecological cycles. Goodman’s recent exhibitions include The Contemporary Jewish Museum (San Francisco, CA), Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN), The Poetry Foundation (Chicago, IL), San Jose Institute for Contemporary Art, and the Center for Book Arts (New York, NY). Her residencies include the JB Blunk Residency, Recology SF (The Dump), Angelic Organics (a biodynamic CSA in Illinois) and the Salina Art Center. Julia received her MFA from California College of the Arts and her BA in International Relations and Peace & Justice Studies from Tufts University.
