Images of India Opens in the Art Gallery

Work on display was created by youth artists at the India Community Center (ICC) in a variety of media. Every year, the ICC encourages elementary and middle school youth to reflect on their images of India. Through this process, the ICC encourages children to connect with their roots while simultaneously promoting an understanding of Indian culture through their experiences. On display are the nine contest winners in addition to a selection of entries exploring daily life through the Indian flag, holidays, architecture, wildlife, and family.

The ICC has as its mission to promote Indian culture and values by providing social, cultural, recreational and community programs, thereby uniting the Indian community, and raising awareness about Indian culture in the local community. ICC welcomes all without regard to racial, ethnic, regional, religious, political or socio-economic background and its mission seeks:

  • To make a positive difference in the community by providing social, cultural, educational, professional, and recreational programs
  • To foster community spirit by creating a place for family and friends to come together
  • To be an essential resource for the community by providing free or heavily subsidized services in critical areas such as health, legal aid and senior support
  • To promote awareness and understanding of the Indian-American subculture in the mainstream as well as provide a bridge to India.

ICC is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization.

Costume and Book Drive

Here’s your chance to clear out some of the like-new costumes and books your child may have outgrown, and help other families have a happy Halloween! • Shop through our racks of costumes that other families have “traded-in”

Broken Fix It!

Things break; that’s a given. From the Stone Age wheel to the modern computer, everything breaks down and requires repair at some point. What do you do when something breaks down? In Broken? Fix it! visitors will be challenged to embrace the broken. The Broken? Fix it! exhibit serves as a hands-on owner’s manual, helping children and adults to diagnose problems, then roll up their sleeves and get inside the repair process.
