Alexis Javellana Hill
April 22 – July 15, 2023
Alexis Javellana Hill’s work brings us into her exploration of found objects such as tickets, receipts, bags, grocery lists, and cards from the South Bay. Hill draws to question the division of space through walls, roads, and borders. Her practice includes works on paper, public art interventions and murals.
Hill was a Teaching Fellow in the Studio Art Department at Dartmouth College and is the current Blau-Gold Studio/Teaching Fellow at Root Division in San Francisco, where her studio is located. She has a BA from Dartmouth College and an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design.
Hill is often inspired by the way children draw their environments and the important systems in their lives, such as their schools, families, and nature. She is excited by what can happen when families experiment, brainstorm, and make art together.
