Children's Discovery Museum's BioSITE program guides teachers and students toward inquiry-based science teaching and learning by providing authentic, field-based activities, small group work for student researchers, and cross-age teaching experiences that emphasize the community of learners approach.
Resources for replicating these aspects of the program are woven into the on-line curriculum's instructional units and reference information. The units include activities with detailed lesson plans including teaching tips and background information for use by those interested in building a community of learners through a mentoring program. Educators may also integrate activities into their existing science teaching to engage students in the inquiry process, field science methods, and environmental stewardship.
