Preschool Storytime with a Digital Twist

Multiple performances today at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Children’s Librarian Cen Campbell builds on our Storytime exhibit by presenting a traditional preschool storytime with a digital twist. Cen incorporates apps and eBooks to support early literacy and language development. This format provides children and caretakers a better view of the books while modeling positive media behavior and helping parents understand how to maintain a balanced media diet in an increasingly digital world. Come and learn new songs and rhymes, and read classic and contemporary picture books on the big screen!

Open 4th of July

Celebrate the Fourth with us!  Learn a little about what our founding fathers might have been like as children in the fanciful film “John, Paul, George, and Ben” at 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 p.m.  Make a red, white, and blue friendship bracelet between 11:30 and 3:30 p.m. And be sure to stay for the evening’s fireworks show launching from Discovery Meadow!

Rotary Centennial Fireworks Show

Launching after dark over Discovery Meadow

Come for the fun, stay for the fireworks! Discovery Meadow is the launch site for the Rotary Club of San Jose’s Centennial Fireworks show. Park once, enjoy the activities at the Museum, grab some dinner downtown, then take a seat on the lawn for the show. Great viewing will be available in the open portion of the meadow.
